A Word from the Manufacturer
Patient No 9 was inspired by a love for The Prince of Darkness and his affection for a certain iconic scent. This is not a dupe. It borrows a handful of familiar notes and pushes them into a world that feels stranger, moodier and unmistakably its own. The original version did not quite match the vision, so changes were made by adding a raspberry accord and deepening the darkness and warmth with choya loban. Thalia suggested the idea of old concrete walls, dampened by age from a leaky roof, which became the foundation of a concrete accord inspired by the artwork.
The fragrance opens with bright bergamot cut by geranium and a jolt of black pepper, a combination that feels sharp, nervous and alive. In the heart, rose, raspberry and jasmine swirl together in a way that is lush but slightly warped, like beauty viewed through a cracked lens.
Then the walls close in. The concrete note emerges as the cold, damp and dust covered walls of a long abandoned institution, where the air still seems to hold echoes of the past. Vetiver and oakmoss add earth and shadow, grounding everything in something deeply atmospheric, while sandalwood and choya loban bring smoke, warmth and a haunting depth that lingers on the skin.
Directions for Use
Shake well before use. Splash a small amount into your palms and apply gently to freshly shaved skin. Pat until absorbed. May also be used as a light fragrance on pulse points throughout the day.
